SGT workflow software selected for all-digital facility in the Middle East

SGT's products will be used within a new all-digital, tapeless facility in Doha, Qatar, for the Panarabic Youth Channel, a new television channel for young Arabic people all over the world. PYC will begin broadcasting in the Middle East and Northern Africa and Europe in the first quarter of 2005 and to the U.S. later this year.

Operators in the new Doha facility will use SGT products and systems, such as its Traffic Management module for handling content and scheduling; Media Manager module for the global management of media in the workflow; and Transmission Management application for automated program playout from the Leitch servers.

The PYC project will take advantage of many features of SGT’s products, including automated mass digitization, secure transmission in active/passive mode, the management of news and production studios, browsing in Windows Media 9 (WM9) format, content management on different SANs and global system supervision.

PYC's archivists will keep detailed records of all media on a new “Storyboarding” Media Manager module before archiving on a Storagetek cart machine.
