Sennheiser Enhances Mics With New Filter

Sennheiser has announced the availability of a new filter for use with its MKH 8000 microphone series. The MZF 8000 filter is designed to effectively suppress both wind and handling noises.

"The filter module allows users to target and suppress unavoidable handling noise and eliminates wind noise almost completely," said Dawn Birr, Sennheiser's product manager for professional products.

The new filter was engineered for extremely low self noise and was designed to be used with Sennheiser’s MKH 8020, MKH 8040 and MKH 8050 RF condenser microphones. The MZF 8000 can also be used with a remote cable as a separate unit. It features a transformerless design and has a fully floating output, allowing easy connection to recording equipment.

The filter has two low-frequency filtrations: a switchable roll-off function and a fixed low-cut filter that effectively suppresses response below 20 Hz. A switchable 10 dB pad is also included.
