Lexcom Cable in Lexington, NC, has employed on-demand television technology by Seachange International in a new competitive effort to boost subscriber services in its market area.
Using the SeaChange VOD system and VODlink software, Lexcom’s LexCommand is taking on competitive television services in Greensboro/High Point/Winston Salem, NC, the 44th largest television market in the USA, with on-demand movies, subscription VOD and more.
VODlink provided the environment for Lexcom to custom develop its own subscriber navigation interfaces for LexCommand. Extending beyond the typical pause, fast-forward and rewind controls, the system will provide actual DVD menus, features, chapters and extras.
Lexcom recently demonstrated its LexCommand interactive service for hundreds of area residents as part of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Alive after Five’ event series. Aboard SeaChange’s digital television truck, viewers were able to test-drive the new on-demand and HD television services.
