Roland Brown joins Quantel Board

Quantel has announced the appointment of Roland Brown as a non-executive director to the company board.

Recently director of engineering for The Moving Picture Co., Brown will help Quantel identify and harness emerging technologies that hold the potential to change the face of content creation and delivery over the next handful of years.

"We are at another tipping point for the industry, one where tools will become natural to the user and the technology will fade into the background where it belongs", said Brown. "We used to have to all be engineers to make film and television, but it's the craft skills — and empowering those skills — that will dominate the next phase of development in the industry".

Brown's CV to date encompasses four decade's worth of experience working at the cutting edge of broadcast and post-production technology for companies such as Intertel VTR Services, Lion Television, Video RSA South Africa and then MPC. Along the way he's been involved in many milestones, including the first satellite transmission from the United Kingdom, worked on Queen's seminal music video for "Bohemian Rhapsody" and took MPC into HD production and a data-centric future.
