Ramone to Deliver Heyser Lecture at AES
By TVTechnology published
Phil Ramone has over a dozen Grammy Awards and can claim to be the producer of the first CD album and pop DVD. He has worked with The Guess Who, Burt Bacharach, André Previn, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney, Barry Manilow, Madonna, Paul Simon and Billy Joel, amongst hundreds.
So what does he do for an encore? He delivers the 2009 Richard C. Heyser Memorial Lecture at the AES Convention this Sunday.
Ramone’s lecture is titled “Technology and Music Meet Again.” AES said he will examine the rise of technology and how music and technology have developed a symbiotic relationship that benefits artist and listener. Ramone has been working in the music industry since the late 1950s so he has witnessed what he will address.
The series is named after Richard C. Heyser, a scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., who had a knack for being able to explain complicated technical concepts to nontechnical listeners. He was also involved with the AES for decades.
