Quantel's Version2 for generationQ

Quantel has announced Version2 for generationQ—a platform-wide upgrade for all generationQ systems that adds new effects tools and capabilities while taking connectivity to a new level. It also offers performance gains of between 75 and 250 percent compared with the previous version, according to the company.

The new capabilities include a multi-view compositor, combining blender, camera, schematic process and DVE axis views; unlimited layer compositing with unlimited processes on every layer; embedded plug-ins; and direct access custom transitions in the editor. Together they enable users to complete jobs faster, and significantly expand the range of work that can be undertaken on generationQ systems.

Connectivity advances within Version2 include background push/pull media exchange and browse between systems; Windows Media 9 and QuickTime background I/O for creation of client review versions; a QXMLnet scriptable interface for third-party system connectivity; and settings-only archive for instant transfer of set-ups between systems.

Quantel Marketing Director, Nigel Turner, said that the new version exploits the full power of generationQ technology to create an editing environment that combines effects capability with a highly intuitive interface, allowing stations and post houses to create a workflow that is both highly efficient and extremely creative.

Version2 for generationQ is shipping now and is available to all iQ, eQ, gQ, QEdit Pro, QPaintbox Pro, QEffects and QPaintbox users. A worldwide launch tour for Version2 starts in London March 17th.
