Therapy, an editorial, finishing, design and audio facility in Santa Monica, CA, now speeds through the weekly task of turning automaker Kia’s national commercials into local and regional versions with its Quantel eQ. The local/regional tags number up to 70 unique versions a week.
With its editing, compositing and color correction capabilities, the eQ is well-suited for the Kia tagging project. The process involves Therapy recording the tags with the same voiceover talent as the national commercial and importing the audio from its mix bay into the eQ along with the national spot and any new graphics.
The Quantel eQ also comes in handy for graphics fixes. Although tagging doesn’t usually involve creating new graphics, the effects editing side of the eQ allows Therapy to correct mistakes in the graphics when found.
