Progressive Productions selects Panasonic HD camcorders
Progressive Productions in Los Angeles has acquired two Panasonic AJ-HDX900 multiformat DVCPRO HD camcorders.
The company has used the camcorders to shoot a performance documentary DVD for Capitol Records, instructional DVDs for high-fashion hair company KMS California, and a feature short for veteran film and television director William Crain.
The company said the camcorder’s built-in downconverter and HD-SDI outputs are important features because directors use a lot of Steadicam and jib shots on projects. The camcorders often record to DVCPRO HD tape and hard drives simultaneously.
Panasonic’s AJ-HDX900 DVCPRO HD supports a wide range of 1080 and 720 recording formats. It features a native 16:9, 2/3in HD, 1-million pixel 3-CCD system, and produces F10 (at 2000 lux) and low-light shooting down to 0.032 lux (at+62 dB gain).
The camcorder is equipped with 14-bit A/D DSP circuits and offers 4:2:2 color sampling and independent frame compression. It offers built-in, image-enhancing features including three Cine-like gamma modes to replicate the look and feel of film, and is compatible with a wide range of 2/3in lenses and accessories.
