Philips Launches Digital Media Adaptor Reference Design

Royal Philips Electronics and software marker Mediabolic introduced a new digital media adaptor reference design for on-screen media content management.

The design combines Philips Nexperia PNX1500 with and Mediabolic middleware.

Nexperia itself supports MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, H.264 and Windows Media Video, standard- to high-definition upconversion, advanced de-interlacing, and decoding of all audio, image and video formats, according to a Philips news release.

Additionally, Philips Nexperia PNX 1500 platform integrates an advanced graphics engine and an LCD controller. It offers full-resolution MPEG encoding and IDE and PCI controllers.

The design will become available to manufacturers for $5,000 in July.
