PBS Monitors Signals With Miranda

PBS has purchased a Miranda Kaleido-K2 virtual monitor wall processor for signal monitoring through Virginia-based systems integrator Communications Engineering. The processor will be installed in a new ingest room for media prep prior to archiving.

The Kaleido-K2 lets operators change aspect ratios, modify the layout configuration and visually monitor four audio levels in SD and HD. It has a 1600 x 1200 pixel output and can scale images down to 1/16 of their size. Audio is processed in analog, AES/EBU and embedded audio formats. Power status monitoring features include a source identifier display, tallies, clocks, VBI data and closed captioning.

Up to 32 video inputs and 48 stereo AES/EBU audio inputs can be displayed pereKaleido-K2 processor using a plasma screen, projector or PC/video monitor - up to three can be connected to triple the number of sources monitored on one display.

The product is intended for multistep monitoring with simultaneous display of SDI, HD-SDI, VGA, composite and off-air streaming feeds.

PBS has also acquired two Miranda/Oxtel Imagestore automated mixing and channel branding systems and eight serial digital DA cards.
