Panasonic announces 7th-generation plasma models

Panasonic's TH-65PHD7UY 65in. plasma display

Panasonic has introduced five new 7-Series plasma display models, the 65in. TH-65PHD7UY, the 50in. TH-50PHD7UY, the 42in. TH-42PHD7UY HD panels, and the 42in. TH-42PWD7UY and 37in. TH-37PWD7UY SD panels.

The new 65in. TH-65PHD7UY is designed for applications calling for an eye-catching, super-sized vertical or horizontal display, from a building lobby to a boardroom to an exhibit hall.

The new 7-Series family boasts high contrast (4000:1 on SD models and 3000:1 on HD units) and multi-slot functionality, plus they incorporate significant improvements in peak brightness, displayable colors, service life, multi-screen capabilities and customization options. The 16:9 plasmas have picture-improving technologies including a real black drive system, a deep black filter, super real gamma system, adaptive automatic gain control (AGC), motion picture disturbance (MPD) noise reduction, 3-D color management, and active interlace/progressive conversion.

The improved super real gamma system reproduces gradations in steps equivalent to 2048 shades and up to 8.58 billion colors to deliver greater image depth and provide subtle nuances in dark scenes.

Most of the high-definition models are now available, although the 65in. TH-65PHD7UY and 42in. TH-42PHD7UY will be available in November.
