Omnibus iTX in Belgium

OmniBus Systems have announced that Belgian facilities company VIDEOHOUSE is broadcasting three channels with its OmniBus iTX software playout and automation system. VITAYA, a lifestyle-themed channel, has been hosted on iTX from Sept. 13, 2007, followed by the health channel VITALITEIT and a third property-themed channel in October.

"iTX was the natural choice for these channels because it offered the best combination of features, cost-effectiveness and easy integration into our existing systems," said Dirk Theunis, technical and operations manager for VIDEOHOUSE. "We wanted a solution that could deliver high production values and interface readily with our traffic and Avid systems. Another important factor was iTX's ability to deal with different formats within the same playlist, since we are looking at upgrading some of the content on these channels to HD. iTX offers a very flexible and inexpensive path up to HD broadcasting."

VIDEOHOUSE's iTX solution comprises the three main on-air channels with logo generation and graphics, an ingest channel and a backup channel. Secondary events are scheduled by the traffic system with dynamic CGs added in iTX. Content from the Avid systems is transferred automatically to the iTX storage for insertion into the playlists. VITAYA is a standard-definition premium channel available to all viewers and includes letterbox and anamorphic content, while VITALITEIT and the property channel are digital.
