NHK managing director to deliver Broadcast Engineering Conference keynote

Hirokazu Nishiyama, managing director of Japanese public broadcaster NHK, will discuss new broadcast services like mobile, HDTV, IPTV and VOD during his keynote address April 15 for the 61st annual Broadcast Engineering Conference at NAB2007.

Nishiyama will speak about the opportunities these advanced services create for broadcasters and the various applications that make Ultra-HDTV — with 16 times the resolution of HDTV — a promising technology for the future.

From 1989 to 1995, Nishiyama was executive deputy president of NHK Enterprises America where he played a major role in production of HD programs in the United States. He was later appointed as associate director of the Engineering Administration Department where he was responsible for developing broadcasting equipment for HDTV.

Nishiyama currently oversees all NHK engineering activities and supervises the Engineering Administration Department and the Science & Technical Research Laboratories.
