Nexio the choice for Spanish transmission

A total of seven Harris Nexio AMP servers have been installed by Spanish broadcaster Televisión de Galicia (TVG) as part of a project to extend its digital transmission capabilities.

The Nexio AMP servers feature FTP (file transfer protocol) capacity and were installed at TVG's head office in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. They will be used to support several on-air transmission channels and interface with and existing Harris ADC automation system, bringing greater efficies at the ingest and playout stages.

As a result of the investment TVG will also be able to expand its transmission area to 14 inputs and 28 play channels, allowing all media to be acquired and stored centrally to supply multiple channel services to users across the organisation. The project will also see the installation of five Harris Nexio AMP Logo channel-branding licenses for live logo insertion.

"We chose Nexio AMP because it provides us with a powerful and reliable server platform and represents an important evolution from our legacy Harris server technology," said Antonio Posse Peña, engineering director of TVG. "Features such as automatic up/down/cross conversion for complete format transparency, integrated channel branding and the compatibility of the servers with the multiple software systems in our environment were some of the key factors in our decision. We are also confident in the Nexio AMP server's ability to easily scale as we grow our operations in the future."

The installation was managed by one of Harris' local dealers, Broadcast Meditel.
