New School buys JVC ProHD camcorders

The New School, a university made up of eight schools in New York City, has purchased eight JVC Professional ProHD GY-HD110Us for students to use for the graduate program in documentary media studies.

The graduate program provides intensive training for aspiring documentary filmmakers. Using New York City as their laboratory, students learn about documentary history, theory and video and film production and then produce, direct and edit an original 30-minute documentary.

The GY-HD110 allows students to produce professional documentaries and integrates well with the school's existing film equipment and new digital editing lab, said Dawnja Burris, associate chairwoman of The New School Department of Media Studies and Film.
