Network Electronics-VPG Now Nevion

Network Electronics/VPG, a Norwegian-based provider of routing and signal processing gear for broadcast, telco and government markets, has changed its name to Nevion.

The announcement marks the beginning of a new identity for the combined company and comes more than a year after Network Electronics acquired Video Products Group (VPG), an Oxnard, Calif.-based provider of professional video/audio transport systems for local and wide area networks worldwide.

“We needed a new name to do justice to who we are today,” said Nevion CEO Oddbjørn Bergem. “We have some of the best talent in the industry, and have made major progress along a path that is much greater than the sum of Network Electronics and VPG.”

Nevion’s name is expected to be prominently displayed at its NAB Booth (SU10811) next month, where the company will introduce new enhancements to its Ventura, Flashlink and VikinX product lines.

According to Bergem, the Nevion solutions to be highlighted at the 2009 NAB Show “represent the best we’ve ever featured, befitting the rapidly changing tides of transmitting content through both existing and emerging networks.”
