NBC To Split Olympics Coverage Between Broadcast And Broadband

With the summer Beijing Olympics only a year away, NBC said it will increase the amount of material presented to its audience compared to what it broadcast three years ago from Athens.
The network said it will offer 3,600 hour of coverage, to be spread across NBC’s national network programming, its various cable channels, and its broadband sites.
Of the total hours, about 1,400 are expected to be available on television, with the balance of 2,200 being presented for free on the internet.
TV coverage will be spread across the NBC network, USA, MSNBC, CNBC and Telemundo. Online coverage will be centralized at mbcolympics.com. NBC is also making plans for mobile coverage of the games.
