NAB2005: DVEO Transports HD Video over FireWire in Real-Time

DVEO plans to demo its FireCaster at NAB. It transports live uni-directional or bi-directional HD resolution MPEG-2 feeds to, and from, nearly any location worldwide via nearly any type of IP network--including wireless, satellite and Internet--such as content delivery with new-generation HD mini-drive recorders and cameras. FireCaster for HD comes with a pair of gateways designed to route FireWire Packets into a high-speed Internet circuit and deliver an HD stream continuously, and reliably, in real-time.

Also at NAB this year will be DVEO's HD-SDI Master for video editing applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, to enable editors to work in HD uncompressed 10-bit, as well as uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2 HD-SDI 10-bit YCbCr video. (HD-SDI, also known as SMPTE 292M, is the standard for storing uncompressed HD in the content creation process.)

The HD-SDI Master is designed as a PCI X bus-based I/O card for HD video servers, HD disk recorders, and HD editing systems. The Master supports 1080i, 1080p and 720p with 8 channels of AES/EBU digital audio, and has simultaneous SD down-conversion for viewing HD content on an SD-SDI broadcast monitor.
