MTV Ramps Up with Ross Synergy

Canada's MTV has invested in Ross Video's Synergy 3 digital production switcher to be used in the production of the new series, MTV Live.

Steve Coulter, director of technical operations for CTV Television, said the technology in the control room needed to be revamped in order to produce MTV Live. "When choosing the switcher, Synergy had the features, effects, and capabilities to do the job. All the decision makers were unanimously confident that Ross would work for us and the Canadian service aspect is a great advantage," he said.

The company described MTV Live, as a live and interactive talk show about issues of interest to all Canadians. It will be seen Monday-Friday on MTV. The show will be produced and broadcast from new state-of-the-art studios housed in Toronto's historic Masonic Temple.

"We are very pleased MTV and the CTV team recognize the potential of Synergy to handle their live production needs," said David Ross, CEO, Ross Video. "The Synergy 3 is a powerful and flexible large production switcher with a vast array of special effects and live production specific features."

The Synergy standard definition series of digital production switchers are multipurpose units designed for use in virtually any live production environment.

MTV, a programming service owned by CTV Inc., will launch in Canada on Tuesday, March 21.
