MTV has installed an enhanced version of Abit's automation system at its Camden facility in London.
MTV has introduced electronic delivery of material into the transmission suite at Camden site and the enhanced functions added to the Abit system means the automation system can now check for the arrival of material and update its internal database records from information in both the schedule and transmission server.
The Abit system also copies the clips onto a second server and manages housekeeping tasks on both servers. It ensures that the file structure in each server is identical to the play-out list as well as being frame accurate as there is automatic switch over to the backup device should the primary server fail. The new workflow also includes provision of information about material duration and availability in comparison to the schedule information right up to the point of playout.
