More Than 1,000 Receive SBE Networking Certification

The Society of Broadcast Engineers announced that the number of people receiving Certified Broadcast Network Technologist (CNBT) certification has exceeded the 1,000 mark. The Society's National Certification Committee introduced the CBNT certification in 2000 as the result of the ever-increasing dependence of traditional RF, audio and video-based broadcast devices upon computer networking. The certification program was designed to demonstrate a person's familiarity with networking hardware used in business and A/V applications in broadcast facilities.

It took only five years for the CBNT certification to surpass the 1,000 milestone. The certification was first unveiled at the 2000 NAB conference, with 129 people obtaining the certification by the end of that year. The SBE Certification Program is certified by the National Skills Standards Board and requires individuals to recertify at five-year intervals.
