Mobile Television Group first on-air with Grass Valley Kayenne HD switcher

The Mobile Television Group, which operates one of the nation’s largest fleets of HD mobile production trucks, is the first in the United States to use the new Grass Valley Kayenne multiformat (HD/SD) video production center switcher on-air for live sports production. The company recently installed one of the first Kayenne production models onboard its new 53ft expando “25HDX” HD mobile production truck, which produced its first Major League Baseball game in HD on Monday, July 20.

The new truck, which was built by Denver-based Colorado Studios, also carries 10 Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite HD cameras, which can operate in both the 720p and 1080i HD formats. It is scheduled to produce regionally televised baseball games on July 20- 22 between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. The truck will also produce a Fox Sports regional telecast on July 27 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL, between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and a Fox Sports national telecast of the Kansas City Royals vs. Tampa Bay on July 31.

With mobile units located in most major markets in the United States, the Mobile TV Group helps produce live sports and entertainment events across the country. The company also uses Kalypso and Kayak HD production switchers as well as LDK 6000 and LDK 8000 cameras onboard its other trucks.
