Middle Eastern i2 TV channel automates playout with Dalet

The i2 TV, a new channel dedicated to the mobile lifestyle, has deployed a DaletPlus Media Library to support its tapeless production and broadcast facility. The channel will initially be multicast on NileSat and on IPTV networks.

Izzat Kittaneh, managing director of i2 TV, said the goal was to build the first tapeless TV station in the Middle East that included various media asset management functions. Dalet’s Media Library allows the channel to catalogue content, and provides a reliable automation platform to drive i2 TV’s content aggregation business.

Programs appearing on the i2 TV channel are being shot with Panasonic P2 cameras and edited on Apple Final Cut Pro NLE workstations. The resulting files are automatically recognized and referenced by the DaletPlus Media Library. A low bit rate proxy is generated and associated metadata tagged by media librarians. Programs and schedules are prepared using DaletPlus workstations and played out on an Omneon Spectrum Media Server.

Based in Dubai Media City, i2 TV was created by Itsalat International, the largest mobile distributor in the Middle East and Africa with more than 400 retail outlets in 20 countries.
