Maxell unveils iVDR removable hard drive

Maxell introduced a lightweight, rugged, shock-resistant removable hard drive solution for field archive operations at NAB2008

The solution leverages Maxell iVDR technology and connects directly through a bidirectional USB or eSATA adapter to a shoulder-mounted camcorder capable of delivering 10-bit, 4:2:2 master-quality video and native full HD video. In its current form factor, the Maxell iVDR solution is capable of storing 160GB of data and has a transfer rate of 540Mb/s.

The preformatted Windows FAT32 file system allows the Maxell iVDR to mount easily to any professional camcorder. The 160GB drive and adapter will be available in the second quarter of 2008. It will be followed by a 250GB drive in the third quarter.
