KPSP-TV automates with Sundance System

At KPSP-TV’s new digital facility (designed by Digital System Technology, located in Irwindale, Calif.), the FastBreak system controls two Grass Valley Profile XP Media Platform servers, representing 12 individual channels, in a shared Media Area Network configuration.

New CBS affiliate KPSP-TV in Palm Springs, Calif., went on air September 3rd with the help of Sundance Digital's FastBreak Automation system.

The station, which is the area’s first local CBS affiliate in the history of its market, and the first network-affiliated local station serving the Coachella Valley in 35 years, produces four hours of local programming each day.

At KPSP-TV’s new digital facility (designed by Digital System Technology, located in Irwindale, Calif.), the FastBreak system controls two Grass Valley Profile XP Media Platform servers, representing 12 individual channels, in a shared Media Area Network configuration. It has two media prep stations for tape ingest and also features an Intelli-Sat Broadcast Recording Manager for intake and delivery of network material from satellite, including CBS' NFL football package.

Intelli-Sat helps manage the satellite recording process, providing device control and schedule management for satellite and network feeds. The FastBreak Automation system integrates seamlessly with Intelli-Sat.

Also included in the KPSP-TV facility is Sundance's MediaCacher, which interfaces with the FastBreak system to provide an efficient means of automatically caching content from tape to the Profile video servers.
