JVC Consolidates U.S. Operations

WAYNE, N.J.: JVC said today that it completed the consolidation of its U.S. operations under a newly formed subsidiary, JVC U.S.A. The move combines three sales divisions and its service unit into a single organization. Plans to combine the three were announced earlier this year.

Hiro Ishizuka has been named president and CEO. He was previously president and CEO of the company’s U.S. consumer products division, JVC Company of America. Ishizuka said the consolidation would create a more “efficient and more nimble organization” that would give JVC better positioning in the U.S. market.

The four consolidated operations include JVC Co. of America, the consumer electronics division; JVC Mobile, comprising car audio, video and navigation products; JVC Professional Products include pro camcorders, security and display technology, and JVC Service and Engineering, which services the other three products divisions.

Several TV stations have adopted JVC video cameras as they migrate to doing local news in 16:9 or full HD. WKRC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Cincinnati, went live last October with JVC GY-HD250s in the studio. WOIO-TV, Raycom’s CBS in Cleveland, used the same camera to convert its newscast to HD about a year ago. About 30 Raycoms have opted for the camera. WJW-TV, the Fox O&O in that market, installed GY-HD250Us two years ago after launching HD newscasts in late 2004.

JVC yesterday announced that it won the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Video Surveillance Product Innovation of the Year Award for its $3,500 VN-V686WPBU IP network camera. – Deborah D. McAdams
