Ikegami, Toshiba Announce Partnering Agreement

Ikegami Tsushinki and Toshiba Corp. are partnering to develop a next-generation system of editing and production products.

Specifically, the two companies will develop components for a tapeless video production and editing system that will include a professional quality camera and video recorder. The target date for the new product is April 2008.

Ikegami said the partnership is based on its strength in camera technology and Toshiba's expertise in the field of Flash memory, citing Ikegami's EditcanHD that premiered in 2006 and Toshiba's shipping of the first Flash memory broadcast video server 11 years ago.

The collaboration is expected to blend each company's expertise in seamlessly connecting all parts of the video production workflow.

More information about the collaboration and enumeration of specific products to be developed will be detailed in an NAB press conference scheduled for April 16.
