IBC2009 TV news goes tapeless

Those attending IBC2009, which opens later this week, have the chance to see two models of tapeless camcorders put to use covering the convention by IBC TV News.

IBC TV News will use JVC’s tapeless GY-HM100 and GY-HM700 camcorders to shoot footage for its coverage of the industry event. Developed for mainstream production, electronic newsgathering and cinematography, JVC’s handheld GY-HM100 and shoulder-mount GY-HM700 camcorders will be used to capture show action for distribution via various avenues.

The multimedia nature of IBC TV News means that a quick shoot-to-edit workflow is essential and was a key factor in the choice of the camera. With a Web site, video podcasts and mobile content, in addition to the breakfast programs that get produced each day of the show, editing time is always at a premium. The GY-HM100 and GY-HM700 camcorders record files directly to solid-state media in the native format used by Apple’s Final Cut Pro editing system and in XDCAM-EX format for use with other editing systems, including EVS’ CleanEdit Suite, which will be used at the show.
