IBC2009: Confab’s TV News to Use JVC HD Cams

IBC has tapped JVC to provide the fall convention’s “IBC TV News” service for attendees and online viewers via the firm’s handheld (GY-HM100) and shoulder-mounted (GY-HM700) disc camcorders.

IBC2009 at the RAI Center in Amsterdam will be Sept. 11–15.

JVC said its small GY-HM100 features selectable data rates up to 35 Mbps and uses a 3-CCD format, which it says it’s about equal to many broadcast cameras. It will record at 1080p, 1080i or 720p.

The heftier GY-HM700 stores files in Apple’s QuickTime format (.mov) with Final Cut Pro, and is also compatible with Sony’s XDCam EX format via a dockable SxS media recorder (which can be used with the EVS CleanEdit Suite and other editing applications).

“IBC TV News” is shown at the RAI Center, in select hotels and online at the official IBC2009 Web site. Various conference events also will be tracked on Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter.
