HPA Technology Retreat Prepares Lineup

The Hollywood Post Alliance, which is, unsurprisingly, an alliance of Southern California post production companies, will hold its annual Technology Retreat on January 26-28, 2005, in sunny Palm Springs, Calif. This event has become a "don't miss" event for many in television technology and engineering, and not solely because Palm Springs is a nice place to visit in the dead of winter.

The Retreat program runs from the afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 26 through Friday, Jan. 28.. Program topics include a broadcasters' update, a digital content protection status report, a look at the latest display technologies, digital post production, a legislation and regulation update, a look at current digital projection technology, digital cinema, and the mathematics of format conversion. In addition to the program sessions there will be technology exhibits, and the chance to network.

Prior to the retreat program, a seminar on compression will be presented on the morning of Jan. 26. The day preceding the program, Tuesday, Jan. 25, will feature a half-day seminar on PSIP presented by ATSC, mentioned above, and a half-day seminar on wide-color gamut capture and display presented by Charles Poynton.

More information on the retreat can be found at the HPA Web site, www.hpaonline.com.
