HPA Tech Retreat Issues Call for Proposals

The Hollywood Post Alliance is requesting proposals for presentations to be given at the 2008 HPA Tech Retreat, to be held Feb. 20-22 at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage (Palm Springs area), Calif.

Presentation proposals may cover any technical topic related to audio, film, television and video technology, including acquisition, asset management, content protection, fiber optics, filtering, frame rate conversion, lenses, networking, projection, satellites, storage, surround sound, and wireless, to name a few.

There is no required length to the proposals as long as they convey the idea being proposed. Slots in the main program are nominally 30 minutes long, including setup and Q&A, but longer (especially for panels) and shorter slots may be requested.

There are also breakfast roundtable allocations available on the mornings of the 21st and 22nd. These may be on any topic and are accepted automatically on a first-come, first-served basis until there are no more tables available. Proposals for the roundtables should include the title of the topic, moderator name and date.

Program presenters, including speakers, moderators and panelists receive a substantial discount on admission to the Tech Retreat, however there is no similar discount for roundtable moderators (unless they are also presenters in the main program). There is also free space available for technology demonstrations by registered attendees. Proposals must be submitted by the presenter and proposals submitted are not mutually exclusive; presenters may submit proposals for the main program, roundtables or demo space or any combination.

Proposals should be submitted to Mark Schubin at tvmark@earthlink.net; proposals for demo space can be sent to John Luff at john.luff@verizon.net. Deadline for proposals is Oct. 31. For more information on the event, visit the HPA Tech Retreat FAQ page.
