Heuris ships HD Toolkit to bridge JVC HD camera with Final Cut Pro

After shooting HD footage, users of the JVC JY-HD10 camera connect it to a Mac computer and bring the images into Apple's Final Cut Pro (via a Firewire connection) with the Pro Indie HD Toolkit from Heurus.

Heuris, a manufacturer of video compression and processing tools, has announced the availability of its Pro Indie HD Toolkit, a series of software tools that lets videographers bring footage, shot with JVC’s JY-HD10U consumer high definition camera, into Apple’s Final Cut Pro digital video editing program.

The toolkit features the XtractorHDV import utility, MPEG Power Professional-DTVHD MPEG-2 encoding software and the XtoHD player utility. The software components offer a way to import raw HDV content into Apple’s Final Cut Pro editing system and then digitally transfer the edited footage to D-VHS for distribution.

After shooting footage, the user connects the JY-HD10U camera to a desktop Macintosh computer through an IEEE 1394 Firewire connection. The video is downloaded through XtractorHDV with a single click, which imports and converts the HDV into a format suitable for use by the Final Cut Pro digital video editing system.

Once the footage has been edited, MPEG PowerProfessional -- DTV-HD software encodes the footage into MPEG-2 streams. TheXtoHD tool transfers the MPEG-2 streams to a D-VHS deck for playback or can record to D-VHS tape if so desired.
