Harris unveils new UHF TV transmitters

Harris has unveiled a complete family of low- to medium-power UHF television transmitters that bring together "best-of-the-best" innovations from Harris and Hirschmann to provide the simplest analog-to-digital migration path of any UHF transmitters.

Every Atlas transmitter features the Hirschmann digital television exciter, which is available with a plug-in module that enables PAL or NTSC operation.

The new transmitters in the Atlas family include:

  • Atlas DTV660L digital transmitter, optimized for DVB-T applications from 1.5 through 9kW. A single cabinet can provide up to 3kW output power, and up to three cabinets can be combined. Each Atlas DTV660L features solid-state power amplifiers with on-board power supplies.
  • Atlas analog transmitters, ideal for PAL or NTSC applications up to 30kW. Like the Atlas Digital DTV660L version, the analog model features broadband, solid-state power amplifiers with on-board power supplies. Additionally, these transmitters provide Harris' state-of-the-art monitoring and control system.
  • The Atlas series includes Hirschmann's DTV 660 line of low-power (100mW through 1.5kW) air-cooled digital transmitters, which are available with an optional integrated DVB-T receiver for retransmission applications.

Every Atlas transmitter features the Hirschmann digital television exciter, which is available with a plug-in module that enables PAL or NTSC operation. When the television provider is ready to transition to digital, all that is required is the replacement of the analog module with a DVB-T or ATSC module. Every Atlas transmitter is also fully broadband and features an extremely compact design.
