FOR-A to introduce multi-bit-rate switcher at NAB2005

FOR-A will introduce a new addition to its line of Hanabi switchers at the NAB2005. The switchers offer switchable operation between SD and HD resolutions and the ability to produce programs in multiple bit rates.

Representing a combination of FOR-A’s existing Hanabi HVS-3000S SD and HVS-3000H HD 2 M/E switchers, the new HVS-3800HS features a polygon-based HD DVE. It supports all major SD and HD formats, including 1080i, 720p, 24p, and 23.98 segmented frame modes.

Up to two 3-D DVE cards can be installed on the HVS-3800HS, with one card supporting two channels when working in the SD mode, and one channel when working in HD. Two cards provide up to two channels in HD and four channels in SD. A DVE channel can be assigned to any M/E or key layer.

Operators can install the new polygon-based DVE in HD as an option to the HVS-3800HS. Chroma key operation is supported as standard, with one chroma key operation per M/E, for a total of two chroma keyers. The multiformat switcher also features two independent key edge/shadow generators and six key channels (two key layers and one DSK per M/E).
