Emmy-nominated television lighting designer Bruce Ferri has started his own design firm, Ferri Lighting Design & Associates. The company focuses on multicamera television productions.
Ferri worked at New York City Lites starting in 1984. For three consecutive years, Ferri received an Emmy nomination for his design work on ABC’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” and in 2004 he received a Sports Emmy nomination for ESPN’s “SportsCenter.” He recently designed the lighting for ESPN’s new high-definition studios in Bristol, Conn.
Ferri also recently designed the HD studio for The Weather Channel and is currently putting the finishing touches on the studios of MLB Network, which launched on Jan. 1.
Ferri’s work includes automated lighting fixtures, fiber-optic lighting, LED fixtures and low-power CDM lighting.
“We will do so in a manner that will create a look that will stand out above the rest,” Ferri said. “While we will strive to use new technology, we will use what is appropriate for the look and the budget of the project. Good designers realize good designs. We understand and know how to use all of the tools available to bring any project to its fullest potential.”
FLDA officially opened its doors on Jan. 1.
