FCC DTV Education Workshops to Focus on Seniors, Minorities

The FCC will sponsor numerous DTV educational workshops over the next 16 months, leading up to the analog shutoff in February 2009.

The commission sponsored one day-long workshop focusing on public education efforts for the DTV transition in late September. Two more workshops will be held by the end of the year; the first, on Nov. 8 will cover issues related to ensuring that seniors are prepared for the transition. The second workshop, on Dec. 4 will address issues related to ensuring that minority and non English-only speaking consumers are educated about the transition.

The workshops will be held at FCC headquarters, 445 12th St. SW, Washington DC, in the commission meeting room and will be webcast live from the FCC’s Web site. A complete agenda for the workshop will be released soon.
