DIRECTV offers personalized program offerings

DIRECTV is offering subscribers a way to create shortcuts to favorite programs.

In an effort to help cut through the clutter, the service is offering a new My TV Planner feature. Instead of scrolling through an endless list of programming, the new feature on the Web site will help viewers locate TV shows, movies and pay-per-view programming in line with their personal preferences.

DirecTV is using the services of ChoiceStream, a company based in Cambridge, MA. Subscribers can rate six to 10 movies and TV shows, and a personalized page displaying selections that match a preference profile will appear and be updated with suggested programming and scheduled air times for the coming week.

The initiative is to make DIRECTV more user-friendly. The service is free to DIRECTV customers.
