Cox Snags Earthlink Lawyer

Cox Communications has hired Rebecca (“Becky”) Stone as Senior Counsel.

Stone was an attorney at Earthlink Inc., where she was responsible for legal matters regarding municipal networks, including marketing, franchise and software licensing agreements.

At Cox, Stone will be responsible for providing legal support to the Travel Channel marketing group and to Cox’s corporate and field marketing teams. She also will provide legal assistance with trademark, copyright and domain name issues.

“Becky will be a great addition to our legal team,” said Robin Sangston, vice president and associate general counsel for legal affairs at Cox Communications. “Her experience as a marketing manager for large telecommunications carriers gives her special insight into the challenges and opportunities facing marketing teams for both Cox and Travel Channel.”

Previously, Stone was an attorney and assistant general counsel for Arnall Golden Gregory LLP. Stone earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Iowa and her JD from Georgia State University.

Cox is the nation’s third-largest cable operator, with about 6 million customers, and also owns 15 TV stations.
