Fans of the Grateful Dead can see Jerry Garcia and company together again--but this time in HD.
CINEvents and Grateful Dead Productions have teamed up to premiere the digital broadcast of "The Grateful Dead Movie." Theatres with cinema grade DLP projectors and Dolby 5.1 surround sound are participating to show the film Jan. 24-26 across U.S. cities following its initial Jan. 3 showing. DLP projectors feature chips containing a rectangular array of up to 1.3 million hinge-mounted microscopic mirrors, measuring one-fifth the width of a human hair.
"We believe this event ushers in a new era of theater-based entertainment," said Bob Stewart, CEO of CINEvents.
