Florida-based Waterman Broadcasting Corp. has purchased six Chyron HyperX 2 on-air graphics systems, two Camio news graphics management solutions and Chyron’s Election Package, Chyron said.
The systems are divided between WBBH, the NBC affiliate for southwest Florida (owned by Waterman) and WZVN, an ABC affiliate operated by WBBH (and owned by Montclaire Communications) through a local marketing agreement.
The HD/SD-switchable HyperX2s, with Lyric PRO advanced creation and play-out are currently on air in 16:9 SD but will transition to HD in time for the Olympics. At that point, WBBH and WZVN will be fully HD compliant.
“The workflow of Camio, the enhanced capability of the MOS interface, and the flexibility of the HyperX2 and Lyric PRO allows us to create on-air, state-of-the-art graphics quickly and easily. It also allows us to handle breaking news in a more efficient and relaxed manner,” said Bob Hannon, Waterman director of production. “We chose Chyron based on the capability of the machines and the software, the ease of use for the operator and value for money. We also wanted to continue a relationship with a company that has supported us well over the past eight years and that still listens to and values its customers.”
