CBS-Owned Sister Stations Air With Solid State Logic

UPN affiliate, KMAX-TV, and sister station CBS affiliate, KOVR-TV, both serving the Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto, Calif. broadcast area, are now on the air with two Solid State Logic C100 digital broadcast consoles.

The C140 consoles were recently installed in two refurbished audio control rooms, a result of the 2005 merger of the KMAX and KOVR operations that included KMAX's move into the West Sacramento studios of KOVR, according to the company.

"SSL is very pleased to be working with CBS-owned and operated stations and their commitment to a two-console purchase," says Steve Zaretsky, vice president of Broadcast at SSL Inc. "KMAX did an exhaustive evaluation of many different consoles at their facility in Sacramento, and chose the C100. Both consoles have gone on the air flawlessly."

Primarily designed for on-air and live-to-tape production applications, Solid State Logic's C100 provides simultaneous 5.1, stereo and mono signal paths directly from source through to destination. The console features 80 mix busses for talent, communication, and production area mixes.

In September, KMAX will become an affiliate of the CW Network, being created from the merger of UPN and The WB.
