Broadcasters Tap Ross for Switchers

GMA Network Inc. and Red Televisiva Megavision S.A. (MEGA TV) have each purchased Ross Video's Synergy digital production switchers, a first such switcher for MEGA TV and second switcher for GMA.

Ross Video's Darren Budrow, manager of Asia Pacific sales said that GMA, a Philippines-based television network, began its relationship with Canada's Ross Video two years ago. GMA recently reinvested in the partnership and purchased Ross Synergy 1, Synergy 2 and Synergy 100.

"Each time we invest in equipment, we carefully consider all opportunities," said Felipe S. Yalong, senior vice president of finance at GMA. "The combination of Synergy's powerful effects and affordable pricing makes our decision effortless."

In a separate deal, MEGA TV, Chile's first private TV channel, has purchased three Synergy 2 digital production switchers to assist them in its transition to DTV. The broadcaster will use the switchers in its main production mobile unit based in Santiago.

The Synergy 2 is a 2 MLE standard definition production switcher and functions in a variety of broadcast environments, from network and local news broadcasts to stadiums and IMAG applications. The Synergy 2 can be upgraded to a Synergy 3 or 4 or to a multi-definition system.
