BUG.tv's CLASS-1 comes with 80GB hard disk space, one SDI output and genlock. RAID and SAN configurations are available as options.
BUG.tv (Broadcast Unifying Gears), a Quebec City, Canada-based company specializing in the integration of broadcast and IT technology, has announced the CLASS-1, a new video server based on Apple’s Xserve G5.
BUG.tv said that CLASS-1 can be used to play Final Cut Pro projects, DV and MPEG-2 directly on-air without resorting to file format conversion. The new server works through drag and drop and supports all major file formats supported by QuickTime, including DV and MPEG. It has an SDI output and handles programming through LIstPlayer Pro, a playlist builder application that supports real-time, sequential, and systems or network-triggered startup actions.
The server can be integrated with a larger system through the use of common RAID storage over a Fibre-Channel SAN. It can share the same movie library as the Final Cut Pro editing system.
