Harris Ships 3 Gbps HD Broadcast Routers

Harris Corp. said it has started shipping its first fully functional 3 Gbps routing systems. The capability to pass 3 Gbps signals is now standard on all HD routing systems in the company’s Platinum and Platinum MX lines.

Platinum switchers provide signal routing in matrices up to 128x128 in 9 RU, 256x256 in 15 RU and 512x512 in 28 RU. The line also supports a mix of audio and video signals, from analog to 3 Gbps HD-SDI, in the same frame. Input, output and crosspoint cards capable of passing 3 Gbps signals are available separately for shipment to existing Platinum HD-SDI router customers.

Harris offers a range of interoperable, 3 Gbps-capable gear for routing, conversion, fiber optics, signal monitoring, channel branding and test and measurement. The bit-rate capability ensures support for the adoption of 1080p.
