Avid Inks Company's Biggest Broadcast Contract

Avid Technology's European headquarters has closed an $8.4 million deal that will equip France Télévisions, France's largest broadcaster, with a newsroom system in Paris to deliver news programming for channels France 2 and France 3.

"This is the largest broadcast contract in Avid's history," says Graham Sharp, Avid VP of European sales and operations. The newsroom systems will include Avid's Unity shared media environments, NewsCutter editing stations, Xdeck direct-ingest devices and Media Browse journalist video editing server systems, which hold 440 browse stations.

The sale, one of the biggest deals in France Télévisions' history, is a key factor in the broadcaster's efforts to modernize its newsroom operations.
