Avid AirSpeed offers Multichannel VTR replacement

Avid's AirSpeed

Avid Technology’s new AirSpeed server is a multi-purpose media production and distribution platform.

It offers a modular 3RU form factor, IT-standard design and advanced codec technology that allows it to increase channel capacity and accommodate new media formats as needed

With AirSpeed, users can perform direct acquisition of tapes and feeds and two-channel DV25, DV50 and IMX50 playout functions.

Multiple AirSpeed servers can be connected to an Avid Unity MediaNetwork system — up to 10 feeds to a single port — allowing journalists and editors to access media seconds after recording begins. In addition, up to five AirSpeed units can be grouped together in an AirSpeed studio configuration, functioning as a single, multichannel virtual server for precise playout and automatic failover.

AirSpeed also offers the ability to pre-program functions (remotely or locally) using standard VTR control protocols, or operate it manually like a VTR using familiar front panel controls and jog/shuttle knob.
