Apple acquires Silicon Color
Apple has acquired Silicon Color — the San Diego-based creators of FinalTouch color correction software for film and video editors working on Macintosh computers. No financial details were announced.
FinalTouch HD supports Final Cut Pro and QuickTime media in HD resolutions. FinalTouch SD is the color-finishing tool designed for SD QuickTime media. FinalTouch 2K was designed for color finishing for 2K DPX and Cineon files in real time.
In September, the company upgraded FinalTouch for Apple’s new Dual-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro computers.
Apple will honor maintenance agreements held by Silicon Color users until they expire, the company said.
