AOB Testing P2

Athens Olympic Broadcasting (AOB) and Beijing TV Station, China are testing Panasonic's new P2 solid-state memory broadcast system at the Olympics.

Panasonic, the official supplier to the Athens Olympic Broadcasting (AOB)--the host broadcaster for the 2004 Olympics--says AOB is also using more than 100 Panasonic DVCPRO50 50 Mbps 4:2:2 VTRs and camcorders, including AJ-SD955 and AJ-SD930 editing decks.

Two hundred professional cameras and camcorders are being used at the game venues, including 100 AJ-SDX900 16:9/4:3 switchable camcorders which can shoot 24fps and record 48-kHz/16-bit digital audio on all four channels.

AOB is using 1,600 broadcast-quality monitors, including 1,100 LCD displays and 40 advanced DVD-RAM video recorders. The recorders can record 16 hours in EP mode on a 9.4 GB double-sided disc, while a progressive scan component terminal optimizes the resolution for both PAL and NTSC sources when connected to a plasma panel/LCD TV or LCD projector.
