AES names John Strawn, Valerie Tyler to co-chair for fall convention

John Strawn and Valerie Tyler will co-chair the 125th Audio Engineering Society Convention. Scheduled for Oct. 2-5 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, the convention will mark the organization’s 60th anniversary. The convention has committed to increased outreach to the broadcast and engineering communities and anticipates continued increases in exhibitor and attendee turnout from those sectors.

Equally adept with piano and soldering iron, John Strawn is a Fulbright Scholar with a Ph.D. from Stanford. He played an integral role with Lucasfilm’s DroidWorks affiliate and, as a co-founder of Yamaha Music Technologies, USA, he headed an electronic music instruments R&D group. Strawn chaired the 2004 and 2006 AES Conventions. Valerie Tyler is an accomplished audio editor and freelance live sound engineer. A longtime AES member, Tyler co-chaired of the 1998 AES Convention.
