180 Degrees Digital Post chooses Chyron Duet HyperX

180 Degrees Digital Post used a Chyron Duet HyperX HD character generator on board a new all-digital HD truck for all on-air graphics for its coverage of the recent City to Surf race, in Sydney, Australia.

Chyron’s Duet HyperX HD/SD system features up to two software-switchable HD/SD channels, either one of which may integrate a compressed HD/SD clip player. The system’s architecture enables easy switching among different HD and SD formats.

The Duet HyperX system includes Chyron’s Lyric 5.2 software that is used to create 2-D/3-D graphics and send them to air without requiring file conversions.

City to Surf is Australia’s 14km run, which starts in Sydney’s Hyde Park and ends at Bondi Beach. During the event, the Duet HyperX was used for all the on-air graphics, including full-page backgrounds on channel two and foreground strips, baselines and supers with backgrounds on channel one. The broadcast production featured the main HD van at Hyde Park, two helicopters, three motorbikes and another production truck at the finish line at Bondi Beach. All materials were sent back to the 180 Degrees HD truck, where video was combined with graphics and then sent to Channel TEN for broadcast.
